Our Commitment
The EEUM Building Project values your trust and your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect during our fundraising effort and how we use it. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions, which govern your use of the Site.
Our guiding principle is simple: we collect only what is needed to acknowledge your gift and keep you informed, and we use it only for that purpose.
Information We Collect
You may share information with us through one of the following ways:
Through our contact form:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Any comments or messages you choose to include
Through our pledge form:
- Your name
- Your pledged donation amount — suggested giving tiers are shown for convenience, but you are free to enter any amount you choose
- Your email address — required so our treasurer can follow up about your pledge
- Your phone number — optional; if you provide it, we use it only for direct follow-up by our treasurer when email doesn't reach you. A phone number entered on the pledge form is never used for SMS marketing, automated text broadcasts, or any other messaging, and is never shared with third parties
Through SMS subscription:
- Your phone number — collected only when you voluntarily text the keyword JOIN to our SMS number +1-361-400-0080 from your own mobile phone
- Any messages you choose to send to us by text
We do not collect, store, or have access to:
- Phone numbers for SMS marketing, automated text broadcasts, or any other messaging program through the pledge form. A phone number you optionally provide on the pledge form is used only for direct, one-off follow-up by our treasurer and is never enrolled in the SMS Program described below
- Credit or debit card numbers, bank account numbers, or any other payment credentials
- Actual donation transactions through this Site — donations are made by donors directly via Zelle, Cash App, or bank transfer using the public instructions at sdaunited.org/index#give, and we have no access to your financial accounts
SMS Messages and Phone Numbers
If you choose to subscribe to SMS updates from the EEUM Building Project by texting JOIN to +1-361-400-0080, the following applies:
- Your phone number is used only to send you the messages described in our SMS program: donation acknowledgments you request, project progress updates, event reminders, and the initial welcome message confirming your subscription.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- You may reply STOP at any time to immediately and permanently unsubscribe, or HELP to receive support contact information.
- We do not share, sell, rent, transfer, or otherwise disclose your phone number, SMS opt-in information, or SMS message content to any third party, including affiliates, for marketing purposes or any other purpose.
- We do not use SMS opt-in data for any analytics, advertising, or profiling purposes.
- SMS opt-in data and consent records are stored solely for the purpose of honoring your subscription and your opt-out preference, and are not used for any other purpose.
How We Use Your Information
The information you share is used only for purposes directly related to this fundraising effort, including:
- Responding to your questions or messages
- Recording and following up on pledges of support
- Sending a thank-you acknowledgment when you have notified us of a gift
- Providing occasional updates about the Building Project's progress to those who have opted in
- Recognizing donors at appropriate giving tiers when they have agreed to be listed
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing or any other purpose.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We do not maintain a long-term database of donor personal details. Contact and pledge information shared for this fundraiser is retained only as long as needed to complete the purposes listed above. SMS subscribers' phone numbers and consent records are retained only while you remain subscribed. When you reply STOP, your phone number is removed from the active subscriber list, and only a minimal opt-out record (phone number and opt-out timestamp) is retained as long as required to honor your unsubscribe request and demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations. Records required for accounting, tax, or audit reasons are kept in accordance with applicable laws.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your Choices
You may at any time:
- Ask what information we have associated with you
- Request that your name be removed from any donor recognition list
- Reply STOP to any SMS message to unsubscribe immediately
- Ask us to delete your contact information from our records (subject to any legal retention requirements)
To make any of these requests, simply contact us at the address below.
